Tyre labelling was mandated following EU legislation and was brought into action from 1st November 2012. It was introduced to inform consumers more about tyre safety and its impact on the environment. A new European tyre label will come into force from 1st May 2021 as the UK Government has embarked on “improving vehicle safety and environmental compliance”.
At Turnpike Tyres, we stock an extensive range of car tyres Fareham, which includes budget, premium and mid-range units from all the leading brands in the world.
The EU tyre label rates units on the basis of fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise.
The fuel efficiency rating ranges between A and G and is colour-coded.
The difference from A to G is equivalent to nearly 7.5% decreased fuel economy.
The wet grip is rated between A and F. D and G aren’t applicable to passenger cars.
The rating is as follows :
1 wave: Quiet (Under the EU limit)
2 wave: : Moderate (between the EU limit and below 3dB)
